How I tried to make my NY Fashion Week experience more Sustainable.
/Hello my Vee lovers!
First,
I would like to say that I hope you all are staying healthy and at home. It’s been a little while since my last blog and I would like to pick up where I left off… After having a very busy February, when I finally had the time to write about New York Fashion Week, Coronavirus and quarantine hit us. The first weeks, I felt that it was inappropriate to write about fashion when bigger and more important things were happening, and then the following weeks I felt uninspired.
Now that I have been feeling more in my zone, creating content from home that is relatable, I honestly feel this is the right time FOR ME to share this post and help us get away for a bit from our new normal.
Back in February…
When I got my invitations for NY Fashion Week shows, I kept thinking about Sustainable Fashion and my Carbon Fashion Foot Print. Since last year I’ve been using more sustainable and clean brands, and in January I calculated How Dirty is my Closet? (If you haven’t done this, you should!). I love fashion, and i won’t deny that I contribute to Fast Fashion, and because of it I wanted to make a few changes to help clean my closet and our planet. Hey! Any little change is better than no change at all, right?
I decided to rewear items that I have in my closet and create different looks with it. I also decided to subscribe to a monthly clothing rental with My list at Bloomingdales. Most of the looks where from my closet except for one of them. That one I did with the renting box from Bloomingdales. It was a bit challenging to come up with these looks, because most of the items I had already worn in different ways and I hadn’t purchase anything, the prior year, for winter because I was pregnant. Nevertheless, I put my mind into it, made an effort to keep with my plan and to come up with looks that didn’t feel repetitive but rather fresh and in-style.
Hope you like the looks and let me know in the comments which one was your favorite one and if you have calculated your Carbon fashion foot Print.
XO.
